Aleenta is a secluded retreat 90 minutes drive from the centre of Phuket. Even though it is not far from the main island, it feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of busy Patong. Aleenta is located on a pristine beach with no other hotel in sight; its 36 suites and villas are a perfect getaway for anyone looking for seclusion and romance.

Accommodation

Aleenta offers a few different categories of accommodation – Beachfront Suites, Beachfront Villas, One and Two-bedroom Pool Residences and Pool Duplex suites.

Each category comes with its own charm – all beautiful in their own way. Some offer direct access to the beach, others – more space, better views and private pools. There is something for everyone and the choice depend on guests’ personal preferences and budget.

Loft suites (lowest room category) are designed with a bedroom upstairs and a separate living room downstairs. Polished concrete, soaring ceilings, direct access to a shared pool and a beautiful view make this suite a perfect choice for couples who like to have a little extra space. Another alternative for couples is Beachfront Villa (one room beauty) located right on the sand with a private plunge pool and beachfront location. Stunning!

For families or larger groups look no further than Aleenta’s three bedroom Beachfront Villas – the ultimate luxury. All bedrooms are located in separate pavilions for utmost privacy and have a beautiful green lawn with a swimming pool right on the beachfront. Perfection! These villas start from US $1700++ in low season.

During our stay all five Beachfront villas were occupied, so we have settled for the second best – 2 Bedroom Pool Residence. It is a fantastic choice for a family (2 adults + 2 children). The Residence is extremely spacious (about 150 sq meters) and features 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms + separate powder room, full kitchen, TV room and a spacious living room.

All rooms come with ample comfortable sofas, technical gadgets and housekeeping twice daily. Very comfortable apartment for a family stay.

Facilities

We didn’t expect a lot of choice in activities from a small resort but Aleenta has exceeded our expectations.

I am a big yoga fan and Aleenta offers a large range of group and/or private lessons for Thai Chi, Yoga, Stretch classes, Swiss Ball exercise classes and personal training. All classes are chargeable but very reasonable, about US $20.00 per class.

Little gym has a couple of cardio machines and some free weights, but it is rather small and without a view. But the classes were perfect and I was often the only one participating in them so I got all the attention from the teacher!

Aleenta can also arrange a variety of sightseeing or action based activities for their guests through outside suppliers. Just ask concierge for recommendations.

Limestone Adventures offers fantastic boat trips and boat charters we highly recommend – nearby area in the East of Phuket has so many pretty islands that can be reached only by a private boat.

Beach

Beach at Aleenta is fantastic. Soft sand, clear blue ewater, a little waivy at times but absolutely perfect for swimming. Even my 4 year old preferred the beach to a pool on a few occasions.

Another beauty of Aleenta’s beach is sun lounges directly on the sand. Many hotels in Phuket had to remove all their day beds from the beaches since a change in their regulations earlier this year. Aleenta takes full advantage of this luxury with chic sofas, umbrellas and bean bags placed in front of the property.

Kids at Aleenta

During our stay Aleentahas presented as a romantic resort rather than a family resort. Mainly due to its intimate small size and a more remote location. However my kids felt welcome at Aleenta.

They have visited the Kids Club and baked some cookies there and created pretty candles. Surprisingly I got a bill for US $100.00 for the 2 hours they spend there but kids were very happy. Isn’t it what we all want on holidays?!

Dining

Aleenta has 2 restaurants – beachfront ‘Edge’ (serves lunch and dinner) and a Thai restaurant (open for breakfast and lunch). Because of the location Edge seems to be much more popular; our quiet dinner under the stars was very enjoyable. Edge specialises in seafood and we would recommend choosing something local, like a white snapper (often freshly caught that morning) rather than imported frozen seafood. Chefs are better with local fish, know how to cook it well and you will surely enjoy it.

Breakfast is pleasant, however doesn’t offer as much variety as other Phuket resorts. A very small buffet (cereals and breads) is complemented by an a la carte menu offering healthy ‘spa’ choices and traditional eggs and pancakes.

Ayurah Spa

Ayurah Spa has a comprehensive menu of various holistic therapies that I haven’t seen anywhere else in Phuket. They include colour and music therapy, healing massages performed in a different manner depending on your birth month (I am still a little curious about this one), combination of yoga and massage as well as traditional Vichy showers, scrubs, body treatments and personalized facials by a UK trained ‘Linda Meredith’ specialist.

Aleenta Spa-173

Linda Meredith is known as a ‘queen of facials’ and has been in the beauty industry for over 40 years. her customers include celebrities like Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss and now you can experience these amazing products in Aleenta Spa too.

I had a pleasure to experience a custom designed  facial and I have to admit that my skin looked more hydrated, healthier and glowing after the treatment. I highly recommend this beautiful facial to all spa lovers.

Ayurah spa also offers treatments for the younger guests (from 5-16 years old) – what a treat to enjoy a massage together with your little ones – a family bonding experience.

Splitting Hairs

Some rooms need a bit of maintenance (peeling paint and broken ipods take away from a luxury feel)

I would suggest moving breakfast to the beachfront restaurant for a much superior view and location

Beach service could benefit from more boogie boards and stand up paddle boards for the guests to enjoy

All In All

Aleenta is a wonderful boutique resort with white modern suites and villas that are sure to please any couple in search of a romantic getaway. Perfect for honeymoon couples.

If you are travelling as a family I would suggest to choose Aleenta for a few days for ultimate relaxation and move onto Phuket for a little more action.
