Intercontinental Hong Kong is an iconic five star hotel in Kowloon. Even though most places interest are on Hong Kong Island I absolutely adore the location of the Intercon. It is right on the water’s edge with a sensational view of Hong Kong island from every room. Main areas, including a grand lobby, Club lounge and waterfront restaurants feature floor to ceiling windows and give an impression of being on board of an ultra luxurious cruise ship.

Forbes Guide seems to agree with me – Intercontinental is the only hotel in Hong Kong that won Forbes 5 Stars for a number of years in a row.

Accommodation

All the suites in the hotel have mesmerizing views of Victoria Harbour and, while Junior Suites are very spacious, we would recommend One Bedroom Suites with a separate living room. They provide a little more space and privacy.

I loved the huge windows, Bose sound system in the room and Handy phone with portable wifi and international calls to 10 countries.

Breathtaking view from my Junior suite kept me glued to the windows, especially in the evenings, when the harbour lit up with lights and laser shows.

The hotel hasn’t been renovated in the last few years but the classic décor and marble bathrooms didn’t age.

Jewel of the hotel is the Presidential Suite that sprawls over 2 levels and 500 square meters. Superstars often call this suite home – Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie spent a few months here a couple of year ago.

The suite has won Best Suite in Hong Kong and is truly magnificent. The living room is literally on the water’s edge and features a Grand piano, floor to ceiling windows, extravagant flower arrangements, chic furniture, sculptures to mention just a few special touches.

Presidentail Suite rooftop pool is one of the most photographed in Hong Kong and symbolises the ultimate in luxury living.

Dining

Dining is another exceptional feature of the hotel. Intercontinental Hong Kong is home to Yan Toh Heen, 2 Michelin star Cantonese restaurant that is recognized as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the world; famous Japanese Nobu; The Steak House offering some of the finest beef from around the world; French Spoon by Alain Ducasse, another Michelin star gem that has arrived to Hong Kong straight from Paris; all day buffet restaurant Harbourside and, exclusively for the hotel guests, the Club Lounge.

I had an opportunity to dine at Yan Toh Heen and it was a truly memorable experience not only because of the refined food but also because of the exceptional silver service and stupendous view.

Don’t miss the tea menu featuring some of the rare brews from around the world and ask Tea Sommelier to recommend the best tea to compliment your dish.

Nobu is exceptional everywhere in the world but I love the local flavours that seamlessly made their way into some of the traditional Nobu favourites. The atmosphere here is young and glamorous, a perfect setting for a long Hong Kong lunch.

Club Lounge

Intercontinental Club Lounge is the best I have seen in Asia to date. It offers an unbelievable selection of beautifully presented delicacies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choose a freshly squeezed juice or a green smoothy in the morning accompanied by a plate of delicious raspberries and blueberries. Delight in a glass of French champagne and iberico ham in the evening or for those who have a sweet tooth there is a stunning spread of mouthwatering deserts for afternoon tea.

The atmosphere in the Club Lounge is so warm, cozy and welcoming that you will feel like you are ‘coming home’ after a day of sightseeing or meetings.

Facilities

Intercontinental Hong Kong boasts a harbourside Jacuzzi pool (perfect for daydreaming) and an outstanding I-SPA, designed for complete relaxation. I had the best spa treatment in Hong Kong in I-SPA. Try a scrub and massage in a couples’ suite with private sauna, steam room and marble Jacuzzi for two. Exceptional treatment!

There is also a swimming pool set in the garden and a full gym for those looking for a bit of action of their holiday.

Splitting Hairs

There is a lot of construction in the area and the Intercontinental will certainly benefit from it in the long run. New embankment should be completed in 2017 same as the office building next door. It will be wonderful once it is over so hotel guests could enjoy tranquility while lazing by the pool and a beautiful walkway by the harbour right in front of the hotel.
