Cheval Harrington Court is a beautifully appointed apartment complex in South Kensington, close to the underground station and some of London’s landmark museums. We travelled to London as a family and in the busiest time of the year, during Wimbledon so as much as we love luxury hotels an apartment seemed to be a more appropriate choice.

We wanted to find something modern, preferably new (a difficult task in London), with no stairs (walk-ups are very common in central London) and very central. With 2 little kids in tow it is much easier to be able to walk everywhere and avoid public transport.

After researching a couple of different options we have chosen Cheval Harrington Court and we were not disappointed! These apartments have just been completely refurbished and we know from previous experience that you just can’t beat ‘new’.

The Cheval website describes Harrington Court as “an oasis of calm” and we could not agree more; this newly refurbished residence offers five star service and management and we were especially impressed with the concierge service which offers 24 hour assistance as well as five day a week maid service which changes the white linen and fluffy white towels at your request. No different from a hotel really, just more space.

What appealed to us the most was the location of Cheval Harrington Court; it is close enough to the very centre of London, and, yet just far enough to enjoy a beautiful walk through Hyde Park of a summer evening after a great day of shopping at nearby Sloan Street and Harrods. There is also no shortage of local quality restaurants in the close vicinity of the apartments.

Check in

Cheval Harrington Court was easy to find. The London taxi took us directly to the apartments while for those who prefer public transport there is a tube station within two minutes walk (sometimes the tube is a quicker option than taxis for moving around London). The building itself is modern and yet blends into the façade of the historic street.

Upon arrival, our reception was exceedingly friendly and efficient as the concierge welcomed us with a warm smile and personally escorted us to the two bedroom apartment we booked.

Nothing was too much trouble for our concierge and he explained all the nuances and facilities of the apartment.

Accommodation

Cheval Harrington Court offers guests a selection of studios, 1, 2, 3 bedroom apartments.

Our two bedroom was beautifully appointed with modern facilities and tasteful furniture. It also had a lot of lovely designer touches throughout the place to make the apartments feel more personal, like a home. A lot of vases, flowers, fruit bowls made us feel welcome and cozy.

Our accommodation was on the third floor and with twin lifts operating, there were no delays in coming or going during our stay. A nice surprise was the welcome hamper which included biscuits, chocolates and various fresh fruits along with a chilled bottle of Champagne in the refrigerator.

Although we were left to our own resources as far as breakfast was concerned, there was fresh milk in the refrigerator and a local Indian restaurant provided, if one wished, exotic and healthy meals of an evening. The refrigerator was a moderate size and of course a coffee machine, microwave and dishwasher complemented the kitchen area.

Master bedroom had a king bed and second bedroom two singles for the children. Both were tastefully decorated with elegant throws and a multitude of colourful cushions. We also loved the typical London view from our windows – so nice to wake up and see the life go by in this wonderful city.

Each bedroom had its own bathroom -generously sized bathrooms were beautifully appointed and  featured baths and separate showers.

The design of our apartment impressed us as there was a view from each of the bedrooms and the living area and if we wished to enjoy a cosy evening at home, a large Samsung smart TV, WIFI and audio entertainment facilities.

The other lovely feature of our apartment was a terrace adjoining the living area where we could enjoy a morning coffee, London weather permitting.

Being so close to the Tube Station and a taxi rank negated any need for parking, but for those fellow luxury travelers with a motor vehicle, there is underground security parking at nearby Chevel Glouster Park.

Facilities

Harrington Court provides an efficient and friendly maid service, 24 hour concierge portage and security and as well as CCTV surveillance which made one feel secure. Samsung smart TV, air conditioning, and as mentioned, a fully equipped kitchen complemented the professional helpful and friendly service provided by concierge.

The Lux Traveller Loves

The ideal location of Harriginton Gardens being close to restaurants, museums and by cab or train convenient to the centre of London.

The contemporary furniture, yet traditional atmosphere of the apartments, provided us with a wonderful sanctuary after enjoying the Royal Albert Hall, Natural History Museum, restaurants and shopping in Knightsbridge and the iconic whole foods market in High Street Kensington.

Tip

For those who are looking for haven from shopping and business a trip to Hyde Park will provides a wonderful setting for a family picnic. Enjoying Serpentine Lake and the beauty of outer London on a summer’s twilight evening.

ALL IN ALL –  Cheval Harrington Court was a wonderful experience and pleasant surprise. One of the best serviced apartments The Lux Traveller family has experienced and we look forward to returning in the next English summer.

Price wise it also represents an excellent value for a family of four. Of course staying in a luxury hotel has a little more oomph but we saved a few thousands pounds by staying in Cheval and enjoyed family atmosphere in the heart of London. Win-win!
