Dubai is one of my favourite cities in the world. It truly has the best of everything – an abundance of romantic places, fine dining, shopping, glamour, exclusive hotels, night clubs, beach clubs and so much more!

The best time to visit Dubai is in April or October. The weather is perfect 30C with sunshine, warm sea and pleasant evenings. The humidity is low so even those who feel the heat won’t find the weather overbearing.

If you travel between May and September Dubai is too hot, the temperatures can reach high 40s so try to avoid this period of time. Also during Ramadan (UAE is a muslim country) most of the bars and restaurants close down so the city is very quiet.

A Little About UAE & Dubai

Dubai is the second largest out of seven Emirates in UAE. It is located on the Arabic sea and boasts the famous Palm Jumeirah (man made island in the shape of the palm), the tallest building in the world Burj Khalifa, the only seven star hotel in the world Burj Al Arab and the largest shopping centre – Dubai Mall.

If you experience Dubai in the right way, you would feel like you are a part of 1001 nights, an Arabian princess or a prince. Dubai magic will overwhelm you from the day you arrive.

We have put together a few suggestions on how to make your trip to Dubai truly unforgettable – tips for romance and for family experiences.

Dubai Top 10 For Romance

Stay At Overwater Villas at Anantara The Palm

Anantara is a new 5 star luxury resort on the Palm, with a fantastic private beach, excellent facilities and multiple restaurants. It is the only hotel in UAE that offers overwater accommodation. Twenty romantic villas surrounded by warm Arabian waters feature private decks, glass floors and oversized romantic baths that are absolutely perfect for honeymooners and romantic couples.

Dine and Lounge at Restaurant 101 in One & Only The Palm

This magic restaurant is also located over water (a new trend in Dubai) on the Palm with direct views towards Dubai Marina. Excellent DJ, breathtaking views, fantastic cuisine and a good selection of French champagne ensures an unforgettable evening. After the dinner do as the locals do and proceed to the poolside lounge for a cup of mint tea and a grape flavoured shisha. Gaze at the stars while embracing each other into a warm Arabic night.

Party At Cavalli Club

Cavalli is one of my favourite night clubs in the world. It is ultra glamorous, chic and has fantastic dance music. A good crowd. For an amazing party night book a VIP table for late dinner and dancing. Dancing starts around 12am so 10pm is a perfect time for dinner.

Spend The Day At The Eden Beach Club

Eden is a beautiful beach club on the Palm. It is located next door to the luxurious Rixos Hotel and features modern all-white interiors, large cabanas with ample sofas, fantastic Japanese fusion cuisine, beach bar, DJ, glamorous people and a nice beach of course. A fantastic day out for the adults!

Madinat Jumeirah Beach

Most of the luxury beach hotels in Dubai have their own private beaches. One of the best stretches of sand is at the front of Burj Al Arab – a long white sand beach with the iconic building right in front of you. The beauty of this beach is that it is one of the only few natural beaches in the city. All the beaches at the Palm are man made.

Local luxury hotel group Jumeirah has a monopoly on this beach so if you’d like to experience it, you need to stay in one of their 5 hotels (Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dar Al Masyaf, Al Qasr or Mina A Salam) or simply visit the beach for a day (a fee of approximately USD $160pp per deck chair applies).

Those who are young at heart might want to pop into the nearby water park Wild Wadi, part of the Madinat Jumeirah complex, for hours of light hearted fun.

Jumeirah Beach

Another nice beach is Jumeirah Beach (same name but nothing to do with the above mentioned hotel group). There are a number of luxury hotels on this stretch of white sand – Le Meridian Beach Resort & Spa, Ritz Carlton and Habtoor Grand. They all feature private beaches – perfect for lounging around on hot sunny days.

Rejuvenate At Talise Spa In Zabeel Saray Hotel

Talise Spa could easily be the biggest and the best spa in the Middle East. It is divided into men’s and women’s sections and only one afternoon a week is open to both at the same time. The facilities are unbelievable and feature a number of large indoor pools, marble hammams, heated marble relaxation lounges, ice room, various saunas and of course any treatment you can think of. Book for a romantic spa package for two and enjoy an afternoon of ultimate relaxation and romance in these regal surroundings.

Romance In The Desert

For an ultimate desert experience take your loved one to Al Maha for a day of mystery, discovery and romance. Al Maha is a luxury all-villa hotel located in the middle of the desert with no city lights in sight. Only you and your loved one, nature, sand dunes and the stars.

Relax in the privacy of your pool villa while gazing at the endless sand dunes, observe the wild oryx in their native surroundings and cruise into the sunset on a back of the camel. A very romantic and exotic way to see the sunset.

Shop Till You Drop at Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is the largest shopping mall in the world. It is also very beautiful to look at – almost like a fashion museum or a luxury hotel. If spoiling your loved ones with beautiful gifts is on your romantic map, then head straight to Dubai Mall for a day of shopping fun. Due to its size it could easily take 30 min to walk from one side to the other so allow at least half a day to explore it.

Dubai-Mall

All the best jewellery and watch companies are represented here with large company stores and window displays to die for. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada have huge stores with the latest collections available in most sizes. For serious shoppers ask the staff to show you all outfits available in your size and Chanel ladies will promptly put you in a private room with refreshments and surprise you with a huge selection of dresses from behind the scenes. This is a true ‘shop till you drop’ experience.

Highest High Tea In The World At At.Mosphere

Once you’ve worn your beautiful selfs out shopping and need to recharge your batteries head straight to Burj Khalifa, world’s tallest building, for an unforgettable high tea in the clouds. Burj Khalifa was featured in the latest Mission Impossible movie with Tom Cruise so you’ll feel like a movie star lounging at Dubai most glamorous high tea venue all the way up at level 122.

Atmosphere

At.Mosphere has to be booked a long time in advance as it is a small and extremely popular restaurant. It is ultimately chic restaurant with breathtaking 360 degrees view of the city.

Enjoy the highest high tea in the world – you deserved it!

Watch The Fountain Show In Style From Armani Hotel

Another amazing event not to be missed is the Dubai Fountain show. Every half an hour there is a fountain show accompanied by music and lasers in front of Dubai Mall. The best way to watch it is of course in style and we suggest the ultra stylish Il Ristorante at Armani Hotel. Book an al fresco table on the terrace and enjoy a true fine dining Italian fair with the best view. We suggest the chef’s tasting menu with matching wines for a complete the degustation of flavours.

Atmosphere – sleek and glam. True silver service. Excellent sommelier.

Food – Fantastic mix of traditional Italian favourites and creative ‘new age’ ideas. Just the right mix for the food to be very tasty yet interesting.

Pricing – If you have to ask you can’t afford it

Experience & View – Unforgettable

Watch the sunset in front of Burj Al Arab

Catch a taxi to Jumeirah Beach Hotel located right next to Burj Al Arab an hour before the sunset and head straight to the Beach Bar (right on the white sand beach with the best view of the Burj). Settle in one of the white cabanas with a cocktail and a shisha and prepare to see a spectacular sunset. Once the sun goes down, the Burj starts to change colours – another spectacular sight.

Hold hands and go for a stroll at the beach or catch a hotel buggy to Madinat next door and be amazed by another magical setting of the restaurants and hotels located on the water’s edge of the man made canals. Catch an abra (a local boat) from one hotel to the next to enhance the magical feeling and bring out an Alladin in you.

  • Dubai is a really universal place (except loud parties). It is really hard to find a city with so many activities to enjoy while spending honeymoon or a romantic vacation.
