And for those travelling with a larger party, there is the ultra-luxe premium five-bedroom villa. All of the guestrooms at the Westin Langkawi are decked out with Westin Heavenly Bed®, several layers of plush bedding heaven which will guarantee sweet dreams and a perfect night of sleep. This bed was AMAZING. A lot of luxury resorts in Asia seem to have firm bedding due to the preference of the region, so it was great to find such plush bedding.

Pools

In a tropical paradise like this, most days can be spent lazing by the pool – sipping a cold drink and taking a nap on a daybed. There are four pools to choose from, each with their own alluring appeal.

The infinity pool blurs the boundary between the ocean and the sky. It has breathtaking views over the Andaman Sea and distant archipelago and also features a swim-up bar. There is an adjoining whirlpool that can be enjoyed day and night.

The ocean rock pool is a fun swimming pool with rounded boulders and waterfalls. The lush tropical foliage surrounding this pool provided some much needed shade to take the edge of the balmy heat.

The children’s pool sits adjacent to the infinity pool and is perfect for those with little ones that want to splash around in a shallow wading pool. The resort provides a basic range of pool toys (balls, pool noodles) to keep children entertained.

Heavenly Spa® pool is part of the spa sanctuary and is perfect for those wanting a peaceful dip in a tranquil setting.

Thoughtful touches such as iced lemon water and cool towels were available near the swimming pools to ensure guests are well-hydrated and refreshed.

Kids Club

The Westin Kids Club is open for children ranging between 4 and 12 years of age. The club has great facilities and really focuses on fun for little ones. Activities vary from day to day and introduce kids to traditional sights of Langkawi. Outdoor activities include bird watching, nature walks and exploring the beach. They also have a great range of toys, board games and indoor activities such as batik painting and cooking classes. Open daily from 9am to 7pm (charges apply). There is also an onsite playground at the Westin Langkawi which will be a great hit with the kids.

Beach

The beach itself is not the best on the island (Tanjung Rhu is renowned for its powder-white sand), but it can still provide endless hours of fun. Splashing in the sea, collecting seashells and building sandcastles is a perfect way to spend a day. For those seeking a bit more adventure in the water, the onsite water sports centre can arrange kayaking, wind-surfing, sailing and more.

Fitness

The WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio features a wide selection of fitness equipment. Access is complimentary and available 24 hours a day. Westin has teamed up with New Balance® to provide a gear lending service. This innovative idea offers shoes and athletic wear so you can pack light and workout on a whim. There is also an indoor whirlpool spa and sauna and squash courts onsite. The amenities are first-class, but the actual building appears to be quite dated and a bit eerie when no one else is around. For those wanting to be active outside and explore the jungle-clad hills, bicycles for both adults and kids are available to hire.

TASTE

This resort boasts a wide selection of dining options, all set in unique surroundings.

Seasonal Taste is an elegant venue that allows you to indulge in different flavours every night. A daily themed dinner buffet is available, with highlights such as the poolside barbecue and Malaysian cultural shows.

The breakfast buffet is served in Seasonal Taste each morning and provides a wide range of local and international breakfast dishes from all around the world. Eggs are made to order, and there is an endless supply of freshly made pancakes and waffles. There is also a big focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, with the breakfast buffet including nutritious SuperFoodsRX options and a juice bar (Westin Fresh by The Juicery). Each day there were different revitalizing juice combinations such as watermelon + basil; and carrot, orange, ginger, turmeric + mango. And if there is something that you want but can’t quite find – just ask!

Tide provides a perfect beachside dining experience in a relaxed alfresco setting. A wide range of tasty dishes are available here – grilled seafood, Cajun prawn pizza, Panini beef steak, and Malaysian satay.

Breeze lounge offers a serene atmosphere to sip a cocktail and have a light snack, while overlooking the pools and Andaman Sea. Splash is a poolside bar, ensuring you can laze by the pool all day while filling up on delicious snacks and chilled drinks. Service buttons are placed by all of the pools so that a staff member can take your order. Float provides an intimate dining experience on the private jetty, surrounded by nothing but candles and the Andaman Sea.

There is also 24 hour in-room dining that provides a vast array of dishes delivered direct to your door. Included in the extensive in-room dining menu is a Kids Eat Well section – with a range of kid-friendly meals, many containing a SuperFoodsRX.
