Sentosa is a resort island in Singapore. It is a world away from the busy CBD yet only 15 minutes via taxi. Sentosa is a lush and tropical island with wonderful wildlife and no traffic. Staying in Sentosa is relaxing and very different from being in the middle of the city.
Accommodation
Amara offers a selection of rooms, suites and villas. As a family we chose a two bedroom pool villa that is for an extended stay.
One of the bedrooms is in a separate pavilion with a spacious, partially outdoor. It is very private – would suit couples travelling together or families with teenage kids.
In the villa we enjoyed Nespresso machine, TV in every room, spacious family living room and of course a warm private swimming pool that gave my kids a lot of joy.
For couples who don’t require as much space sea view rooms are modern and spacious or another option is a swim out room that opens up onto a 25 meter pool and is available only to a handful of rooms.
Facilities
Amara has three swimming pools, one in a park setting, amongst the wildlife. Don’t be surprised if a peacock comes by to watch you swim.
Large gym specializes in rehabilitation, personal training and Pilates. Little spa is not overly luxurious but the massage I had was excellent. The therapist knew what she was doing, her skillful hands have worked on reliving stress from my body and have put me to sleep within the treatment. The prices are reasonable too.
Dining
Amara has one all day restaurant serving buffet breakfast and a la carte lunch and dinner. Early breakfast on the outdoor breakfast is a nice way to start a day. It serves all the necessities – fruit, cereal, eggs but not luxuries like fresh berries and freshly squeezed juices.
A la carte lunch features a lot of Asian favourites and European salads, while dinner menu has fantastic steaks, pastas…..
We had an al fresco dinner on one of the nights and have very much enjoyed the experience.
