Istanbul is an amazing city – full of colour, light and life.
We wanted to find a really special suite to base ourselves from to discover this beautiful city.
My husband plays the piano and he always wanted to stay in a suite where he could serenade me in the luxury of our own piano suite. We were so delighted to find a suite (in our price range) that had a grand piano in it. And it just happened to be located in one of the most elegant hotels in Istanbul.
Pera Palace Hotel belongs to the Jumeirah group, who pride themselves on their exceptional service. From the communication prior to arrival, smooth check in and the personal care they gave us during our stay, we can only shout out praise for the lovely staff at the Pera Palace.
The Location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the city. It is in Beyoglu district, walking distance to Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. The streets surrounding the hotel are very pleasant to stroll – with many cute boutiques and local cafes.
Piano Suite
Piano Suite is one of the most beautiful suites in the hotel. It is located on the top floor – loft style, with stunning views of Istanbul from every window and balcony.
The suite is decorated in a wonderful art deco style with gilded furniture details, dark velvets, mirrors, crystal and most importantly a century old piano as a centerpiece of the suite.
The suite is very spacious, 66 sq m and apart from the beautiful living area it has a separate study area, perfect for a busy writer like myself.
Truly special suite in a unique historic hotel. You can’t help to wonder what famous person has performed on this century old piano.
If you love this historic hotel but would like to stay but don’t want to spend €1,000 Euro per night on a Piano suite another good option is Pierre Loti suite. They start from €500 Euro per night. They are not very large, not as special but still very comfortable for a couple. The photos of the Pierre Loti suite are below.
Breakfast is very quiet and pleasant. It has a fairly small selection of fresh fruit, fresh vegetables (I love how they peel the tomatoes here), nuts and local cheeses. Of course, there is an egg station and pastries. Nothing outstanding but everything one would need for a great start of the day.
Spa consists of just a few treatment rooms (it was probably added recently as modern travellers do expect a spa in a 5 star hotel). I had a facial with Russian therapist who did bring life to my very dehydrated skin after a long international flight.
The spa also has a small hammam room, which would’ve been nice to try if we had the time.
Indoor Pool with jets is excellent distraction for the little ones if you are travelling as a family . Nice treat after a busy day of sightseeing.
Orient Terrace is beautiful in summer – have a Turkish tea here in the hotel’s garden surrounded by colourful bouganvilia and the best views in town.
Lux Traveller Loves – The History of the hotel; A French patisserie downstairs with the most delectable looking deserts; Excellent service; Little treats sent to the room for our daughter – cupcakes & chocolates with a personalized hand written note to make her feel like a VIP; Bulgari toiletries in the Piano Suite
Not our favourite – low level rooms / suites don’t have good views. There is a busy road and a car park nearby and many rooms overlook those. So choose your room / outlook well, request a high floor.
All In All – Unique suite in a stunning historic hotel (at a very reasonable rate).
If you play piano, stay here and spoil your loved one by serenading them in utmost luxury in the centre of the beautiful Istanbul!
