Exciting News for the fans of Aman resorts and visitors to Venice.
June 1 will see the opening of Aman Canal Grande in Venice, the first Italian and fourth European hotel by Aman Resorts.
If you have ever experienced Aman properties, it’ll be no surprise that Aman Canal Grande will be an extravagantly luxurious affair, and with only 24 suites, an exclusive one as well. Set in the 16th centuryPalazzo Papadopoli, the hotel will be midway between the Rialto and Accademia Bridges in the San Polo district.
Suites will feature minimalist furnishing to offset the exuberant interiors (you can get a further taste of the ornate frescoes and reliefs here). Three Signature Suites will include the Sansovino Suite, with an original 16th century fireplace, the Alcove Tiepolo Suite, with a Chinese-style painted sitting room and bedroom ceiling, and the Grand Canal Suite, with arched windows in the sitting room overlooking the Grand Canal. Unusual for Venice hotels, Aman Canal Grande will have two gardens – a garden terrace facing the Grand Canal and a hidden courtyard, both exclusive to hotel guests.
Private motor launches will take guests from the airport or the train station to the hotel. The dining room serves Italian and Asian cuisine on the piano nobile, the principal floor of a Venetian palazzo with the highest ceilings. Further up, there is a spa on the third floor, with a salon, library, the Stanza del Tiepolo (a game room) and the Stanza Gialla (a private function space) on the fourth floor. A roof terrace has views over the Venice rooftops to the Rialto Bridge.
Expect to pay €1,000 ($1300) and up per night in high season, not unlike other luxury Venice hotels.
