The Alpina Gstaad
The Alpina Gstaad is a luxury hotel in Switzerland opened in December 2012.
More than a place to stay in the Alps, it is a new icon for Gstaad combining Swiss tradition and thoughtful luxury. The hotel’s design makes use of materials and craftsmanship typical to the region, including centuries-old wood crafted by master artisans. The result goes beyond Swiss stereotypes to create a fresh interpretation of Alpine chic. No expense has been spared.
Facilities include 56 rooms and suites, Japanese cuisine from MEGU, a Cuban cigar room and a Swiss ‘Stübli’ restaurant. Each suite’s generous south-facing terrace has large windows and French doors to the balcony with spectacular views over Les Diablerets and Gstaad village. The joy of staying here is knowing exactly where you are – in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
The Six Senses Spa offers a luxurious sanctuary for the hotel guests with its world-renowned treatments, specialist practitioners and peaceful ambience. It would be even better if you could actually get a treatment: unfortunately it is always fully booked and if you arrive tired from your trip and would really like to have a massage, forget it, you didn’t book it!
The Japanese restaurant is excellent and deco really beautiful, and you really have time to admire every detail of it since the service very slow, almost one hour to get the first dish ordered. I think the Japanese cook is alone, and if all the guests arrive at the same time … you just have to wait. But I have to admit it is worth the wait.
